Welcome to Term Four.  The National Partnership Program is now alive :) .

Mrs Batten and I are off to a three day training program from Wednesday this week.  I am looking forward to the new ideas on teaching reading and comprehension we will experience.

I had a great session with a parent on the last day of Term Three.  We tore apart the NAPLAN results of their child and got a great picture of how we can assist at home.  If you would like to be a part of this program please call or email me and I will be happy to assist.

Now we are back and running, please keep this site in the back of your mind.

Cheers,

Glenn and the National Partnership Team.

Now the groups have concluded and the issues collated, I will publish the findings by this week.

We are now putting in plans to act on many of the programs the community would like to see at in operation at LMPS.  I’m sure you will here about them in the coming months.

Thanks to Jo Booth, Kris Hawkins and Narelle Batten for being our facilitators.

Looking forward to a great community program,

Priority Information Session.

The highest priority of our focus groups last night (15/9) was the initiation of a NAPLAN information evening.

The LMPS NPP Team have concluded our review of the 2009 NAPLAN data and we will be inviting all community members to an information session which will be held on Tuesday 29/9, commencing at 5.45 pm.

I extend an invitation to all of the LMPS community to attend.

During this session, we will outline the school’s strengths and areas for improvement in an open and honest forum.

In anticipation of your response,

The LMPS NPP Team.

A wonderful forum was held last night 15/9 in our school library.  Many issues were discussed surrounding the teaching of reading at school and at home.  Ideas for follow up forums were noted.  A huge thank you to Mrs Narelle batten and Mrs Kris Hawkins for their efforts in facilitating the forum and to the parents and community members who attended.

It was tremendous to see the enthusiasm community members had in becoming involved in the decision making process surrounding the National Partnership Program.  To that end, I will be inviting interested community members to attend a ‘NPP management plan briefing’.  Here, The NPP team will outline the plans and the targets the school has set for reading and comprehension for the years 2009 – 2011.

One request for a forum that will definitely be held before the end of the term or very early next term will be on:

NAPLAN – What is it?  Who is it? What does it tell us?  How do we use it?

A detailed record of ideas and discusion points will be collated by the NPP team over the next week and we hope to mail them to you as soon as possible.

Please remember to hand in your post forum thoughts to assist us in developing positive and sustainable community partnerships.

Great appreciation to all,

Glenn O’Neill.
